IPmux-16 and IPmux-8 are modular carrier class TDMoIP gateways enabling synchronous TDM circuit extension over IP networks. IPmux-16 is NEBS compliant.

IPmux gateways take data streams from the TDM ports and convert them to IP packets for transmission over an IP network. These frames are transmitted via the IPmux 10/100BaseT port to the network. A remote TDMoIP gateway converts the IP packets back to TDM traffic. The overall effect of the IPmux-16 and IPmux-8 is to allow transparent TDM connectivity over the new generation of packet-switched networks, in both carrier and corporate environments.

Ethernet Modules
IPmux-16 and IPmux-8 support two Ethernet modules. Each Ethernet module includes a single 10/100BaseT port with auto-negotiation support, which provides the uplink to the network.

E1 and T1 Modules
IPmux-16 supports up to 16 E1/T1 ports on two E1 or T1 modules, while IPmux-8 supports up to eight E1/T1 ports on two E1 or T1 modules. These modules provide connectivity to any standard E1/T1 user device. Alarm detection and insertion are supported together with error statistics.

E3 or T3 Modules
The IPmux-16 supports two E3 or T3 modules. Each module contains a single unframed E3 or T3 port.
